Test driving is an integral part of buying a car. It helps you see important aspects of the car you're thinking about buying without actually buying it. Here are some tips on getting the most out of your next text drive:
- Drive competing cars back to back. If you're interested in more than one model try to schedule the test drives for the same day. It will be easier to compare them.
- Make sure you have enough time with the car. Ask the dealer for at least an hour with the car so you can drive it on different roads; e.g. the highway and in the city.
- Driving around in the car also lets you know how comfortable the seats are. That's another reason it's important to spend a good amount of time driving it.
- Make sure you test drive the exact model you're interested in, otherwise you won't get an accurate idea of how the car drives.
- Don't forget to make sure everything is working correctly. Check all the lights, power windows, and windshield wipers to name a few.
It's ok if you aren't ready to purchase after you test drive. Give yourself some time to think if you need to and don't be afraid to ask for a second test drive.
