As tires are driven on, they become worn and that wear can result in a need for tire replacement. To help prevent excessive and uneven wear, it may be helpful to rotate a vehicle’s tires. Rotating tires means removing tires from their present wheel on a vehicle and placing them in another wheel. Front tires can be moved to the back of a vehicle while the back tires can be moved to the front.
Because front tires turn as a vehicle is steered, they can become more worn on their edges than the rear tires. If those front tires are not moved to another area on the vehicle, they may need to be replaced before the rear wheels. Also, if a vehicle has alignment problems, tires may also become worn unevenly.
Rotating tires can help make tires wear evenly, which may help make vehicle maintenance less expensive.
