There's no doubt that the Jaguar XE is an exciting new addition to Jaguar's already dynamic lineup. In the increasingly competitive field of compact sport sedans, Jaguar provides its legendary performance, driver-centric design philosophy, and plenty of features that should make any fan of these big cat cars drool. But there's something this car brings to the table that’s just as important as all those things, if only a little bit more intangible: sustainability.

You see, Jaguar recently marked its first full year of XE sales, it also celebrated a landmark moment in its production history as well. With the production of XE, Jaguar has successfully implemented its first closed-loop aluminum recycling system in its XE production plants. This system, part of Jaguar's REALCAR initiative, has already helped to save over 50,000 tons of aluminum. It does so by separating aluminum scrap from other waste, and actually recasting it rather than having it simply go to a land fill or external recycling center. In this way, Jaguar is able to not only prevent the carbon emissions from primary aluminum production, it also saves enough aluminum to make up to 200,000 additional XE body shells.

With the REALCAR initiative, Jaguar hopes to drive its growth both in a new sector of the automotive market, but also in a future of sustainable production. And that's just one more great reason to drive a 2017 Jaguar XE! Stop by Jaguar Houston Central for a test drive today!
