One of the perks of representing a luxury automaker such as Jaguar means that we can enjoy the benefit of offering vehicles with both a premium feel and performance. But unlike some other car manufacturers who have specific "lines" of sport models, Jaguar hasn't really done that. Until now.
We're set to get our first look at the a sportified XF at the Geneva Motor Show coming up next week. Called the XF R-Sport, the model will take advantage of a more fuel efficient engine that also hypes up the performance specifications of this already snarling kitty.
While this may seem counter intuitive, it's actually a pretty competitive choice when you consider how other automakers do things. For them, sport models are mostly showy, featuring mildly retuned or unchanged underpinnings. For Jaguar, though, they're really keeping a weather eye on the kind of drivers who enjoy performance luxury without the atrocious costs that can come with it.
That's why the XF R-Sport model will come with a 2.2-liter turbodiesel with 161 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. While a diesel option probably won't be in the cards for the U.S. market, we think we can count on Jaguar to give us a similar model with a gasoline-powered mill when the time is right.
While we wait for this car's American fate, you can still enjoy the XF and our other new Jaguar models right here at our Houston, TX showroom. If you have any questions about our offerings, contact us by phone or email, or drop by if you'd like to see them for yourself.
