We know that there are a lot of Jaguar fans in the Houston area and we are committed to providing them with high-quality new and used Jaguar vehicles stocked in our inventory. More than that, we like to make sure that enthusiasts of our favorite British automaker are up to date on all of the latest news surrounding the brand. That is why we maintain our blog here on the Jaguar Houston Central website. Recently, we heard some remarks from the Global Brand Director of Jaguar, Adrian Hallmark. He spoke about the direction the company is headed.
Hallmark mentioned that the company is investing in, and developing new technologies; specifically, the Premium Lightweight Architecture (PLA) platform. This involves using a new aluminum based material to construct the frame of new models. Jaguar is convinced this will help improve overall fuel economy as well as improve the structural integrity of the vehicle.
It was also announced that there may be plans in the works to produce a smaller coupe that uses a four-cylinder turbocharged engine and the PLA platform. Details on this are still fuzzy.
Sometimes reporting the news means putting old rumors to rest and as part of his speech, Hallmark said that any plans to begin the production of a Jaguar crossover have been put on the backburner and the company was going to focus on improving the models currently in its lineup before they turn to new vehicles.
