As evidenced by our last blog post, the new 2014 Jaguar F-Type has been the model on everyone's minds for the past few months. It is obviously the most innovative vehicle to come through Jaguar's production line in quite some time, so all this attention is well deserved. Well today we thought we would break away from talking about the production F-Type models like the ones currently in our inventory, and talk about a new F-Type concept car that Jaguar has simply named Project 7.

Project 7 Was debuted at the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK. This two-seater convertible was likely built as a way to illustrate all the history that is built into the new F-Type, and to pay homage to Jaguar's racing history.

The name "Project 7" comes from the brand's seven wins Le Mans between 1951 and 1990. While this concept's underpinnings were all F-Type, the exterior was modeled after the Jaguar D-Type.

Ian Callum, design director for Jaguar, commented on the new concept vehicle, saying, "Jaguar sports cars are known for exceptional performance and clean design. Project 7 captures that spirit in its purest form."1

The jury is still out on whether or not we will see a race-inspired version of the F-Type make it to production any time soon, but we would love to see some of this Project 7 style rub off on the current collection of new Jaguar models. To see these cars in action or even get behind the wheel yourself, please stop in to the Jaguar Houston Central showroom to arrange a test drive.
